How to Wrap a Present Without Tape

Whether it’s for a birthday celebration, anniversary, or holiday, gift-giving is a classic way to reveal your gratitude for the special people in your life. One way to individualize these presents even more is by wrapping them. What occurs when you’ve gathered your wrapping paper and scissors only to understand you have no tape? First things initially: Don’t hurry to the store to purchase more. Wrapping a present without tape isn’t only possible– it’s easy.

This project, which originates from our friend Anusha Rajeswaran of Fish and Bull, borrows some of the paper-folding principles that are necessary to origami. The outcome yields the very same precision you get with double-sided tape: smooth folds, straight creases, and crisp, tidy lines. All you need are paper, scissors, and a pencil.

Guidelines
Measure the box and cut paper:
Measure the whole width of package, adding about 2 inches; mark with a pencil.

The easiest way to do this is to loosely cover the paper around the box and mark with a pencil, as envisioned above.

Then, cut along the length, folding the covering paper in half diagonally. (Note: It needs to look like a triangle.).

Set up paper and place box in middle:.
Lay the covering paper diagonally in the shape of a diamond; center the box in the middle.

To ensure package is in the right position, get the leading corner of the covering paper and slowly slide it over the box. Adjust the position of package to ensure that the top is covered by paper completely.

Fold up the bottom:.
Pick up the bottom corner of the covering paper, and lay it flat on top of the box. Run your finger along the bottom ideal fold to produce a smooth crease.

Fold the right and left sides inward:.
With your left hand holding the paper in location, utilize your right-hand man and index finger to slowly fold the ideal side of the paper inward. (Note: This need to fold naturally.) Holding the paper in location with your right hand, repeat for the left side.

Create a crease:.
Hold the gift wrap in location with your left hand and move to the top. Run your finger along the leading two folds to produce a crease.

Fold down the top:.
Get the leading point of the wrapping paper and fold it down on top. (Note: You might need to stop and fold the edges a little to make it fold quickly.).

Tuck the top fold into the bottom:.
Take the leading corner that you folded over the box and tuck it into the bottom slot. Fold nicely to secure it in location.
